While we love to swoop into an empty workspace and fill it with our inimitable DesignTonic blend of personality, style and commercial interior comfort, the truth is that not every client needs a radical overhaul.
For those whose existing offices are feeling a little tired, or perhaps aren’t quite meeting the demands of today’s working world, a streamlined refresh can breathe new life into your space through simple design tweaks that are both impactful and easy on the budget - and certainly far more cost-effective than moving.
The result for you and your staff? A shiny new version of your office, one that’s been elevated aesthetically and to meet needs and expectations that have changed immeasurably over the past three years.
A workplace that is reimagined, reinvented and reinvigorated.
So, whether you’re considering a refresh or weighing up the pros and cons of reinventing vs relocating, join us as we offer up 5 reasons why an office refresh might just be the budget-balancing hero your business needs.
1)Immediate difference, minimal disruption
The real beauty of choosing an office refresh by the DesignTonic team over an office move is that it offers your business the chance to reap all the positive benefits of a reimagined design but with minimal disruption to your staff - and their productivity.
Instead of affecting daily operations with potential downtime and decreased productivity as staff settle into a new environment, a refresh can be carefully planned, phased and turned around quickly - certainly causing less cost and hassle than relocating.

DesignTonic X Formal Investments
Case Study: Formal Investments at 21 Queen Street
In their home in the heart of Leeds’ business district, Formal Investments knew that they needed a reception space with a “wow” factor that would set the right tone for employees and visitors alike from the second they set foot in the building.
Enter the DesignTonic team.
Working to maximise the gorgeously abundant natural light that floods through the full-height windows, we crafted a scheme of soft neutrals offset by subtle colour pops and golden timber to create the warmest of welcomes.
The seating area brings the best of resimercial design to bear, with its home-from-home comfort and sleek, chic vibes.
But the pièce de résistance has to be the bespoke reception counter, custom-built by our talented craftspeople.
Featuring an on-trend blend of slatted oak, earthy concrete and the purest of whites, its centrally-sited logo is inset and gently illuminated, immediately drawing the eye and leaving visitors in no doubt of their location.
A smart refresh, swiftly implemented - and with maximum visual impact.
2) All of the looks, less of the pennies
There’s a common misconception when it comes to office refreshes, namely that the finished space will essentially look and feel the same as it did before but “with a lick of paint and some new chairs”.
Not with us.
Whenever the DesignTonic team waves its magic design wand, it does so with innovative imagination, careful consideration and bags of creative design nous.
Our brief is always to deliver a workspace where people can work better, smarter and happier.
Even with more conservative budgets, we’ll blend workplace wellbeing with contemporary design elements for a future-fit office that will brighten the days of your existing employees and help you attract good staff moving forwards.
So we’ll deliver the looks, and staying put will place less strain on your business bank balance.

3) If it ain’t broke…
When it comes to productivity, there’s a lot to be said for familiarity and convenience, not to mention your business’ history in your current workspace.
Like all moves, office moves can be stressful for all involved - and naturally come with an element of disruption and readjustment.
So, if your staff are happy with your existing location, commute and amenities and your business can work with the footprint of your workspace, why change a good thing?
Instead, why not explore how our team could transform it into something shiny and new, leaving you with no need to fix what’s not broken.

Case Study: Wrigleys Solicitors
Leeds legal stalwart Wrigleys Solicitors had occupied their existing offices for more than twenty years but, while the space held lots of corporate history and heritage, it wasn’t ideally equipped for modern work life.
The DesignTonic team was drafted in to work alongside the fantastic Bluesky Design Interiors and deliver a first-class environment that blends the classic with the contemporary to stunning effect.
Luxuriously tactile fabrics, gorgeous pale wood features, a timeless herringbone floor, a carefully planned breakout and a gentle neutral palette work perfectly together to create a warm, welcoming and elegant workplace that speaks of subtle sophistication, boosting staff productivity while putting clients instantly at ease.

4) Make it unmistakably yours
One of the key drivers we see from clients seeking a refresh is that the space no longer reflects the personality of the business - whether that’s due to rebranding, changes of purpose or the diversity brought by a growing team.
An office refurbishment is the perfect opportunity to customise your environment so that it perfectly fits the changing needs and identity of your business - from reimagining the layout to bringing in new brand colours and logos.
After all, the way you brand the interior of your workspace is a key part of moulding the way that people experience your business, from your staff to your clients, customers and suppliers.
So it’s crucial that the way your office looks and feels is a true reflection of your company’s personality - a space that is unmistakably yours.
Case Study: 26 Digital
Following a rebrand, we were thrilled to be invited back to the workspace of our good friends at 26 Digital to bring in their new branding and create some different zones within their existing floorplan.
Working closely alongside 26 Digital, our design captured and delivered their specific vision for this space, with standout elements throughout that range from feature walls through frosted manifestations to a whole range of collaborative working areas - all of which set this fabulous office apart from the competition.
5) Make a positive change
Aside from the financial and design benefits, an office refresh is a unique opportunity to make a number of positive changes within your business.
As well as aligning your workspace with your company’s personality and direction, this is a brilliant chance to demonstrate that your business prioritises the wellbeing of its staff - a crucial way to retain and attract the best in today’s working world.
It is a great opportunity to upgrade your tech infrastructure which, with fast wi-fi and the latest laptop/pc ranking as the top requirements for Gen Z and Millennial age workers in OKTA’s latest study, is another fundamental way to futureproof your workspace.
And, in an era when sustainability is a growing concern for companies of all shapes and sizes, refurbishing an existing office space aligns with environmentally responsible practices, with none of the material and resource requirements or carbon footprint implications of moving to a new location.
