Team Talk – Stadium Interior Design fit for the Premier League

DesignTonic X LUFC

When a Club gets promoted to the Premier League, it’s not just on the park that they want to up their game.

Happily for us hometown fans, the current Leeds United ownership don’t shirk when it comes to wanting the best for Elland Road, and that includes the design of the stadium interior.

So imagine our delight here at DesignTonic HQ when we were brought in to deliver upgraded media facilities fit for a top-flight team, with a quick turnaround to ensure LUFC would be putting its best foot forward in all positions in time for the first whistle of pre-season.

The brief? Smart, state-of-the-art and unmistakably Leeds.

Game on…

Team Talk: The LUFC Media Suite

With his background in Sports Broadcasting, owner Andrea Radrizzani and his team are super savvy when it comes to the importance of delivering a great - and smooth - experience for visiting media.

From our very first conversations, it was obvious that LUFC really wanted to look after journalists and offer the very best press conference and reporting facilities.

Unlike the more subtle spaces we deliver for sports hospitality, a Media Suite is one of those areas where the design should cheer the Club as loudly as anyone on the terraces.

And naturally, it should be steeped in high-end style and comfort…

So, in and amongst bold branding, prominent sponsor logos and Club colours, plush seats and multiple desks are fitted with lightning-fast comms accessed immediately via state-of-the-art  “plug and play” tech.

We built in plenty of power to make sure everyone has quick access to what they need - no chance of missing one of Marcelo’s quotes!

And, while we always consider acoustic comfort in any of our commercial interior designs, there are few places where sound quality is more important than in a press conference.

Enter our friends at Agile Acoustics and this bespoke, Club-branded baffle roof.

Super-practical, offering excellent sound absorption and looking great all the while, it’s the perfect solution for this space.

New Goals: LUTV reimagined

As part of the Premier League overhaul, the Club’s streaming platform LUTV was relocated to a  swanky new space more suitable for a top-flight media channel.

Our design for the space needed to score on a few fronts.

Incorporating the studio and presenting areas as well as editing suites and media offices, it was key that we balanced dynamic styling and strong Club branding alongside excellent technical performance.

The result?

Feature lighting strikes a strong visual note in the studio and presenting spaces, with angled LED strips set into the walls and well-placed downlighting that adds a little professional drama.

To deliver excellent technical sound performance with style, studio walls feature acoustic felt paneling in Club colours, while Club branding and colours resonate throughout - from an oversized clocked Club badge decal that dominates one wall to LUFC blues and golds accenting breakout furniture.

One successful season in, our designs have consolidated their position as Premier League spaces.
